A touch of class…

When I was a child, my favourite colour was yellow. I’m not sure if it was just that I wanted to be different – none of that pink stuff for me! – or if it was just that there’s something so bright and happy about yellow. A little bit of sunshine that you can keep with you.

This isn’t my egg but it’s such a glorious shade of lemon that it takes me back to those sunny childhood days.

My sister Robyn, who decorated this egg, has devoted a large amount of her life to the pursuit of an elegant mediaeval ideal, through the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a worldwide organisation aimed at recreating the Middle Ages ‘as they should have been, not as they were’ (leave out the Black Death and stick to dancing and heraldry, with Kings and Queens and all that fun stuff).

This egg combines simplicity – a single colour of dye – with a medieval style and a touch of  elegance and class – delicate curls drawn in gleaming gold ink.

An illuminated egg, perhaps…
